How Yumio works: revise, Ask, exams, Ranked, Premium. Stuck? Message support.

What is Yumio?

Yumio is a GCSE revision system built to help you actually pass your exams. It remembers what you get wrong, helps when you’re stuck, and gives you practice tools. Flashcards, quizzes, digital exams, Ranked, and Paper Together with friends. AI is help when you need it, not the whole product.

Getting started

  1. Create a free account (email + password).
  2. Open Profile. Add your school, year group (Years 7–11), subjects, and exam board (England) if you know it — used for paper rules from the published spec.
  3. Open the dashboard and pick a subject to learn, quiz, or revise.
  4. Year group powers Ranked matchmaking (Years 7–9 and Years 10–11 are separate bands). Set it once. You don’t need to re-enter it every time.

Tip: finish onboarding prompts when they appear so weak topics and boards line up with how you sit papers.

Revise & flashcards

Revise is for spaced review. Due cards, decks, and quick loops. You can import notes, generate cards from weak spots, or copy curated decks.

  • Due cards. Cards ready to review today. Free has a modest session cap; Premium raises it a lot.
  • Decks. Your flashcard sets. Free allows a limited number of decks; Premium allows many more.
  • Favourites. Pin cards you want to see again.

Quizzes and flashcard review stay available on Free. AI helpers that fill or generate content have daily caps on Free.

Ask

Ask helps when you’re stuck on a question or method.

  • Yumio Swift. Default helper for everyday questions (free daily caps).
  • Yumio Plus / Genius. Stronger explanations and hard marking-style analysis on Premium.
  • Vision Ask (photos of work) also uses daily caps on Free.

If you hit a daily cap, you’ll see a soft upsell to Starter. Free still works tomorrow; Premium just gives more headroom.

Digital exam

Sit a timed digital paper on Yumio (topic-focused or fuller sets depending on the flow). These are original Yumio questions written to published GCSE specifications — not official past papers. Yumio does not host exam-board question papers. Marking uses local keys where available, and your results feed progress / weak topics so the next practice is smarter.

Yumio practice is original. Not official AQA, Pearson Edexcel, or OCR papers. Get real past papers from the boards’ sites, then upload here if you want annotate or mark tools.

After a paper, follow the “learn weak topics” path rather than only re-sitting the same paper immediately.

Mark paper (AI Mark)

Mark paper uploads a practice paper (photos or PDF) for AI marking. This needs Premium or a mark pack credit. Free can still quiz and revise without it.

  • 1 mark-pack credit = 1 paper session (not per page).
  • Page caps: pack/Premium around 40 pages; School/Enterprise higher.
  • Marking follows published GCSE specification criteria and typical method-mark judgement. It is not an official exam-board mark scheme.

Ranked

Ranked is competitive 1v1 quiz practice with ranks and seasons. You need a year group on Profile (Years 7–11). Matching stays within year bands so younger and older years don’t mix.

  • Season 1. 1v1 is live; larger parties open later.
  • Ban a subject, ready up, then play. Rating changes after ranked matches.
  • Custom lobbies are unranked. Still need your year set.

Paper Together

Create a private room, share the code with friends, sit the same paper, get hint-only help while you’re working, then review together. Great for accountability without spoilers mid-paper.

Finish marks on Free have a small daily cap; Premium removes that cap.

Premium vs Free

Free is real: learn topics, short quizzes, digital exams, Rapid fire, Revise decks, Ranked, Paper Together, and Swift Ask with caps. You can revise seriously without paying.

Starter / Premium (£3.99/mo for new accounts, list £4.99) is for students who want the edge to actually pass: unlimited cheap practice, much higher Ask limits, Yumio Genius, unlimited AI Mark, bigger notes/decks, and priority support.

See Settings → Premium or homepage pricing. Checkout isn’t fully live in-app yet. Use Buy Starter or chat and we’ll set you up.

Mark packs

One-off credits if you’re not on Premium but want AI Mark for practice papers. Packs: 5 for £1.99, 20 for £5.99, 50 for £12.99. Request a pack from Settings or contact support until in-app buy is live.

Mark packs do not replace Premium’s Ask / Genius / unlimited practice headroom. They only cover marking sessions.
